I always find it interesting that Pantone announces its color of the year and there is so much buzz around the color for a few months. Design inspirations boards, styled shoots and wedding showcases end up being full of the “color of the year”. But… I don’t tend to see the color really hit its stride in my daily design life for a year or two past when it was supposed to be the “it” color.

I guess this makes sense, most people get engaged a year or two before actually having their wedding, so they are choosing their colors a year or two in advance. What’s funny about this though is that I often created all kinds of beautiful samples for those wedding showcases and styled shoots, put them out on display and had little interest in them so I ended up putting them away. And then, a year or two later, boom – everyone is super excited about those styles. I guess I need to have more patience. haha!

Greenery is one of those trends that I am talking about for sure! The last 3 years I have done several wedding showcases around the theme of greenery and they turned out soooo beautiful. I am now pulling all those samples back out and excited to see them coming into my production calendar.

Here’s a little sneak peak of all the beautiful shades of green that are gracing my design space these days

GREEN & GORGEOUS

Here are some beautiful and unexpected stationery ideas from Weddings in Woodinville, a luxury wedding tour, from all the way back in 2014. The event was designed by Jackie at Event Success. This year I was stationed at DeLille Cellars – really one of the best places in the greater Seattle area to have a greenery inspired wedding. The beautiful photos are from Azzura Photography. I love how everything turned out so elegant because of the green yet stayed whimsical and fun with playful touches like the font, the olive tasting spoons, and the dream catcher style wedding menus.

GO GREEN

Here is some more fun inspiration from another wedding tour that I took part in last year called I Do Sodo. This one was designed by Wendy at Weddings with Wendy and featured amazing greenery by Distinctive Designs Florist and again the photos were by Azzura Photography. I created some really soft and pretty watercolor greenery graphics and paired them with some hand lettering style fonts for a very on-trend look. This invitation suite is one that is getting a lot of attention in the design studio these days!

EUROPEAN CHARM

These beautiful invitations and reception stationery items came from last year’s Weddings in Woodinville showcase. This design was pulled together by Stephanie at Every Last Detail and she had the fun idea to have four different set-ups in the venue all featuring different greenery inspired decor, stationery and other inspiration. These photos are from Azzura as well! I again created watercolor greenery accents for a couple different designs and I just love how they showcase such different feels but keep within the same theme!

REAL WEDDING INSPIRATION

Being from the Northwest, greenery isn’t really a totally new trend for us. I do have some really pretty greenery inspired invitations from past years that I still love and are also seeing a resurgence with all of this greenery love going around. Here are a few of my favorite examples…

YOUR GREENERY INSPIRED WEDDING

Whew! I ended up having a lot to say about greenery! If you are planning a greenery themed wedding, I would love to talk! I often have clients that either take a design like the ones shown above and make it their own or who work with me to create a completely new and totally personalized invitation that completely complements them as a couple and represents their day.
